President’s Message

ATA Celebrates its 100th Anniversary

I cannot begin to express how proud I am to serve as president of the ATA and I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve during this historic year of the organization.

The ATA proudly takes its place amongst other African American organizations who have been in existence for a century including the National Urban League, NAACP and six fraternities and sororities.

The ATA has had a rich and colorful history and we will be honoring our past while focusing on the strategic plans for the next 100 years for Black Tennis in America including the development of tennis facility in Miramar, Florida that will house the offices of the ATA and the Black Tennis Hall of Fame.

This is an exciting year and we have many exciting events planned.  We kicked off our 100th Anniversary in grand style with a display of our history at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale.  I would like to thank all those who donated items for the display.  The Exhibit was awesome!

Plans are underway for the 100th ATA National Championships in Baltimore July 30th - August 6th 2017.  The tournament will conclude our year long celebration and I look forward to seeing you all in Baltimore.

I encourage you all to take the time to read through our Eblasts when you receive them, they will be full of exciting information about the centennial celebrations.
